Hello everyone,

It has been WAY too long, so I'll get it out of the way now. Happy holidays and new year, and hopefully it goes well.

It is currently 9:15pm on a wednesday and I am sitting in Jordan hall studying some lovely chemistry rate law equations. I hate rate law equations. I had my first round of exams for the semester this past week and overall it went pretty well. I also pledged a fraternity in early January and that has taken up a lot of my time.

Anyways, when I left off, it was nearing finals week and christmas was right around the corner. Finals week took my numbers for a joy ride. Note to self, high stress levels + lack of sleep = crazy blood sugar readings. Overall I think i managed it pretty well, even hitting the perfect 100 mark a few times! Finals went extremely well, and even did better on biology than I thought. I arrived back in my buckeye state on December 18th and was beyond excited to see my family. More importantly though, I got to see my two little cats! I am obsessed with my cats, and I miss them way too much at school. Christmas break was a relaxing time, even if I worked the majority of it and my parents had 3 more people in their house than normal. First thing on my list when I got home was an appointment with my endo and CDE. My A1c was a stellar 4.6 (which for those who don't want to calculate it out, is an average blood sugar of 85). This was actually worrisome to my endo, and he wanted to put me on a CGM for a week. I was actually quite pleased to see that, seeing as my goal is 80-120,
I'd say I was within that goal. Anyways, I was pretty reluctant to do it at first, but early February I finally agreed to wear one for a week. Christmas was great, even the meals that I was worried about. Actually managed to nail perfect numbers all Christmas Eve and Christmas day. I ended up getting a dream gift, which was a DJ mixer, as I am an aspiring frat-house DJ. It is not a top of the line, club ready mixer, but it gets the job done perfectly at my frat house and bedroom mix sessions with the roommate.

That is the mixer, in case any of you are curious. I mix mostly Trance, Dubstep, House, and the occasional Trap or Techno song.

I returned to campus early January to begin rush week, and it was well worth it. While I won't specifically say what house I joined, I did pledge a house after meeting the guys and enjoying every minute of rush week at that house. Who doesn't love free food and no class for week?

I am roughly half way through the semester now, and this semesters classes suck. They are all requiring 100% of my time, and my social life has disappeared. I guess it'll be worth it in the end.

On a last little note, the kid who lives next to me in Ross Hall used to try to give me crap for being a diabetic and would always argue with my over how loud my music was and what not. Well over the past few weeks, he was diagnosed with Type I diabetes and now has the same disease I do. Funny how life works, almost funny in way. Obviously diabetes is not a joke, but after some prevous incidents, it is rather comical to me to see him now "walk a mile in my shoes" or I guess in this case "keep calm and insulin on".

Thats all for now,

Jarred

More to come and Go Bulldogs!
